RIAA 2x Multi-Platinum Award for Coolio album Gangsta's ParadiseReleased on Nov. 7, 1995, it was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for two million copies sold on April 10, 1996.*

The album produced the classic rap track "Gangsta's Paradise", which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and almost every other world chart. It also won a Grammy in 1996 for Best Solo Rap Performance and was included on the soundtrack for the film Dangerous Minds. Other singles included "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)", and "Too Hot". The album itself reached #9 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and also charted in many other countries worldwide.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA 2x Multi-Platinum award was manufactured in 1996 making this award approximately 29 years old. It is presented to The Hit Factory® recording studio owner, the late Ed Germano. Parts of the album were recorded at the studio.

The award is all original and in VG condition, with only minor wear on the plexiglass and frame. No manufacturer sticker is present but based on its' construction, the award was likely made by Ill Eagle Enterprises.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
