RIAA Gold Album Award for ZZ Top album Greatest Hits, presented to and personally owned by Dusty Hill of ZZ Top. Released on April 14, 1992 , it was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on June 22, 1992. Remember Dusty Hill (1949-2021) with this rare piece of ZZ Top music history.
The release included tracks from the albums released during 1979–1990, from Degüello through Recycler such as "Cheap Sunglasses", "Gimme' All Your Lovin' ", "Sharp Dressed Man", "Legs" and more although earlier cuts "Tush" and "La Grange" were also included.
The album reached #9 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and into the top 10 in many other countries around the world. By 2000 the album was certified 3x Multi-Platinum for three million copies sold. See image above for the RIAA sales certifications of this release*.

Detailed Item Description: This is an official RIAA Gold Album "R hologram" award. Undoubtedly, the best feature of this award is that it is presented to and was personally owned by ZZ Top co-founder, bassist, co-lead singer, and songwriter Dusty Hill. It was acquired in a 2023 auction personally authorized by Hill's widow Charleen “Chuck” McCrory Hill.
The award was made in 1992, making it approx. 32 years old. It is in Excellent condition with only very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It was rebacked at some point during Hill's ownership. Hill was known to carefully care for and display his memorabilia and the award includes its' original custom hard shell box. Some of his many pieces can be seen hanging on his walls in the 2019 Banger Films/Eagle Rock ZZ Top documentary That Little Ol' Band From Texas.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
