RIAA Platinum LP award for the KISS album Rock And Roll Over. Released on Nov. 11, 1976, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Jan. 5, 1977 for one million copies sold.
Singles on the album included "Hard Luck Woman", with the vocal by Peter Criss, and "Calling Dr. Love", which peaked at #15 and #16, respectively. The album peaked at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in the U.S., #7 in Canada and also charted in Japan and various countries in Europe. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured in 1977, making it about 47 years old. The award is presented to Lee Abrams, who worked in radio and as a consultant to major record labels and industry companies including Capitol Records, Island Records, XM Radio, MTV and others from the 70s into the 2000s. A notarized letter of provenance from Abrams is included with this award (see image).
The award is in VG condition with some typical scratches on the frame and mars on the plexiglass. The award has its' original backing paper with tears (taped to help prevent dust intrusion) and although the manufacturer label has fallen off, the size, shape and location of sticker adhesive residue along with the construction details of the award show it to have been made by the New York Frame & Picture Co.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
