RIAA Platinum LP award for Billy Squier Emotions In Motion album, which was released on July 23, 1982. This award celebrates that on Oct. 26, 1982 the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold. Early Billy Squier awards are very hard to find.

The album produced the hits "Everybody Wants You", which topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, and the title track (which featured background vocals from Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor of Queen). The tracks received heavy radio and MTV video play as well, helping the album to reach #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart. It also charted in Australia and Canada. By 1991 the album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum for two million copies sold. See image above for RIAA sales certifications of this album*.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum Album award that would have been manufactured in 1982, making it approx. 42 years old. This is a rare early Billy Squier award. It is presented to Art Robbins, who managed Billy Squier, Tears For Fears and other high profile artists. This award was acquired directly from family of the recipient.

The award is in VG condition considering its' age with only typical mars on the plexiglass and frame. The award has its original backing paper and while the manufacturer sticker is missing, there is adhesive residue in the size, shape and location of a Creative Glassics sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
