RIAA Gold 45 "white matte" award for The Beach Boys hit single "Good Vibrations" presented to The Beach Boys. This infamous track was released on Oct. 10, 1966 and certified Gold by the RIAA on Dec. 21, 1966.
One of the biggest hits of The Beach Boys career, the track went to #1 in the US, UK and other countries. It received a 1966 Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Group performance and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1994. In 2016 the single was certified Platinum by the RIAA.*

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold Single award was made in 1966, making it about 58 years old. It features the rare presentation to The Beach Boys themselves.
This award is in Very Good condition, especially considering its age. There is some wear on the wood frame, as is typical, along with fading of the label, and the award has been rebacked since it was opened to reattach the record and record label which had fallen off the gold disc.

Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
