RIAA Platinum LP award for Rush album Moving Pictures. Released on Jan. 1, 1981, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA on April 27, 1981. Remember Neil Peart (1952-2020) with this hard to find award.

Featuring the Rush classics "Limelight", "Tom Sawyer", and "Vital Signs", all of which received massive radio airplay, the instrumental "YYZ" also garnered a Grammy award nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. The album reached #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and the UK chart, and #1 in the trio's native Canada. It became Rush's biggest selling album in the U.S. and did well in many other markets around the world as well. By 2021 it was certified 5x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for five million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Platinum Album award that would have been manufactured in 1981, making it approx. 44 years old. It is presented to well-known mastering engineer Bob Ludwig, who mastered this and many other Rush albums along with those from numerous other artists from AC/DC to Def Leppard to Dire Straits to Toto to the Rolling Stones and more.

The award is in VG condition with typical frame wear and mars on the plexiglass. The award has been rebacked but the construction details of the award indicate that it was made by the New York Frame & Picture Co.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
