Combo RIAA Platinum Award for Coolio track "Gangsta's Paradise" and 3x Multi-Platinum Award for Dangerous Minds soundtrack album. The Coolio track was released on Aug. 1, 1995 and certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million on Oct. 5 that year. The film soundtrack was released July 11, 1995 and certified 3x Multi-Platinum on Dec, 22 1995 for three million sold. Remember Coolio (1963-2022) with this award.

Coolio's classic rap track went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and almost every other world chart and also won a Grammy in for Best Solo Rap Performance. Included on the soundtrack for the film Dangerous Minds, it was joined by tracks from Big Mike, DeVante Swing, Sista (Missy Elliot), Wendy & Lisa (of Prince fame), and more. The soundtrack album reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and it also charted highly in numerous other world markets. Detailed Item Description: This large and impressively designed RIAA Combo Track/Album Multi-Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured around 1996, making it approximately 27 years old. It is presented to Pete Ganbarg, who has held various executive roles in the music industry including President of A&R at Atlantic Records and President of ATCO Records, among others.

The award is in VG to Excellent condition, with only very, very minor blemishes on the frame and plexiglass. It has its' original manufacturer stickers from Dejay Products.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
