RIAA Platinum Album award for Eagles album Eagles Live presented to Glenn Frey. Released on November 7, 1980, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Jan. 7, 1981 for one million copies sold. Remember Eagles co-founder, singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Glenn Frey (1948-2016) with this award.
This was the group's first live album, recorded across both the "Hotel California" and "Long Run" tours and also included a new track which hit #21 on the Billboard Hot 100: "Seven Bridges Road", a tune written and previously released by American musician Steve Young in 1969. Eagles performed it with a memorable a cappella intro, often opening concerts with the tune. It would be the last new Eagles track released until the group reunited in 1994. The album reached #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in the U.S. and also charted highly in Australia, Canada, Japan, much of Europe ,and the U.K. By 2001 the album was certified 7x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for seven million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Platinum Album award that was manufactured in 1981, making it about 45 years old. The award is presented to Glenn Frey.
The award has all original internals but the frame was damaged so it has been reframed in a genuine, same-era frame from the original manufacturer Creative Glassics (the award's construction confirms it was made by that company). Overall the award is in VG condition with typical frame wear, mars on the plexiglass, and minor matte fading.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
