Unusual two album RIAA Platinum Album award for U2 album Achtung Baby and the Elton John/Bernie Taupin tribute album Two Rooms. Released on Nov. 19, 1991 and Nov. 1 ,1991 respectively, the albums were certified Platinum for one million sold by the RIAA on Mar. 22, 1992 and Jan. 21, 1992.

U2's seventh album produced several major hits including "Mysterious Ways", "One", and "Even Better Than the Real Thing", and "The Fly". The album topped the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and many other charts around the world. By 1997 the album was certified 8x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for eight million sold.

The John/Taupin tribute had some high profile performers who were critically laudded for their covers, especially Sinéad O'Connor's for "Sacrifice", Kate Bush and her reggae-tinged version of "Rocket Man", and Tina Turner's cover of "The Bitch Is Back", which garnered a Grammy nomination, and George Michael's "Tonight", a highly underated track from the Blue Moves album. The album reached #18 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
