RIAA Platinum Award for Mr. Mister album Welcome To The Real World. Released on June 24, 1985 it was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Jan. 16, 1986 for one million copies sold. Also includes vintage framed Billboard chart display showing Mr. Mister at #1 on the Top Pop Albums tally and Hot 100 with "Kyrie".

The Phoenix, Arizona group's second album produced two hits, "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie", both of which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Follow up single "Is It Love" reached #8. The album itself topped the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and reached the top 20 or higher in many other countries including the UK, Canada, Australia, Finland, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and more. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1986 making it 36 years old. The award is presented to A&R executive and original Zombies guitarist Paul Atkinson (1946-2004). Atkinson was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of the Zombies and in addition to Mr. Mister also worked with Elton John, ABBA, Bruce Hornsby, Judas Priest and others.

The award is in VG to Excellent condition with only very minor frame wear and mars on the plexiglass. It is all original with Fitzgerald Hartley manufacturer sticker.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
