RIAA 4x Multi-Platinum Album Award for the original soundtrack for the feature film Cocktail starring Tom Cruise. Released on July 11, 1988 in conjunction with the film, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA for four million copies sold on January 10, 1989.

Lead by the Beach Boys hit off the album "Kokomo" which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the album also contained tracks from Ry Cooder, Bobby McFarrin, John Cougar Mellencamp, Little Richard, Starship, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and more. The album reached #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and "Kokomo" was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television in 1989.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA 4x Multi-Platinum album award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1989, making it approximately 33 years old. This award is presented to Rob Patterson, a promotions/PR executive.

This award is in VG to Excellent condition with only a couple of very minor mars on its plexiglass and frame. It has its orginal backing paper with Dejay Products manufactuer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
