Bon Jovi RIAA 13x "multi-platinum" album label/artist management award for their Slippery When Wet album, which was released on August 18, 1986. This award is presented to a music industry figure from Bon Jovi co-founder/guitarist Richie Sambora.

This, the New Jersey crew's third studio album, was a smash success with its songs always on the radio in the 80s (and today). Spawning the twin #1 Billboard Hot 100 hits "Livin' On A Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Wanted Dead or Alive" also went into the top 10. The album topped the Billboard Top 200 Album chart for eight weeks and became the best-selling album of 1987 in the U.S. It is thought that this album may have been created to celebrate worldwide sales of the album. The album was certified 12x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA by 1995 for 12 million copies sold in the U.S. alone and with having gone multi-platinum in numerous other world markets, sales are in fact estimated to be almost 20 million worldwide. See image above for the RIAA sales certifications of this album through the years. (Note: This is not a RIAA award).

Detailed Item Description: This is an impressive 13x "multi-platinum" award that would have been manufactured sometime in the mid-1990s, based on it's near-identical construction to RIAA awards of that time period. That makes this award approx. 25 years old. It is presented to Clark Enslin (misspelt "Eslin" on the award) from Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora. Enslin gained notoriety in a somewhat interesting manner for acquiring presumed lost studio outtake and demo recordings of many famous artists, said to include Bon Jovi, as described in numerous articles on the Internet.

The award is in Very Good condition. It does have minor mars on the frame and plexiglass as is typical. The award has its original back with manufacturer's sticker from Creative Glassics (discovered after removing another sticker that was over top of it) so it has not been disturbed from original. Creative Glassics also made RIAA awards during this time period.

Notes on the condition of all vintage record awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
