The album included hits "Plush", "Creep", and "Sex Type Thing" and the album hit #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. "Plush" also won the group a Grammy award in 1993 for Best Hard Rock Performance. By 2001 the release had achieved 8x Multi-Platinum status, making it the group's best-selling album. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum award that was manufactured in 1994, making it about 29 years old. It is unusual in that it is a very large and impressive award featuring three full size LPs and a plexiglass front overprinted with lyrics (Note: Explicit). Very rock and roll considering many awards of the "R hologram" era featured only cassettes, CDs or at most a single LP.  It is presented to Connie DiNardo, who was Manager, A&R Production at Atlantic Records from 1990-96.

The award internal components and plexiglass are in VG condition. The frame is in Fair to Good shape with one corner chipped away (see image) and two very small nail holes on the bottom two sides, one of which pierced the matte board in one spot. The frame damage is essentially not visible when the award is hung on the wall. The award has been rebacked.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
