RIAA Gold album award the B-52s Cosmic Thing album. The album, which was released on June 27, 1989, was certified Gold by the RIAA on Nov. 8, 1989 for 500,000 copies sold.
The group's fifth studio effort become their most successfully, spawning ubiquitous hit "Love Shack", which went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 in the UK and #1 in Australia, also charting in many other world markets. "Roam" also did well, rising into the top 20. The album itself peaked at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and #8 on the UK Albums chart. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Gold album award that would have been manufactured in 1989, making this award approx. 31 years old. It is presented to record executive Michael Ostin.
This award appears to be in completely original condition, i.e. unaltered components including an original back with Fitzgerald Hartley manufacturer sticker. The award's components and frame are in VG condition, with only some very minor mars on the frame and plexiglas.
