RIAA Platinum Album award for Depeche Mode album Violator. Released on March 20, 1990, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on May 22, 1990 for one million copies sold.

The album contained massive worldwide hits "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence" along with "Policy of Truth" and "World in My Eyes". The album reached #7 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and #2 in the U.K. It also charted in many other countries worldwide with notable success across all of Europe, Canada, and Australia. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured sometime in 1990. That makes this award approximately 33 years old. It is presented to well-known radio personality and executive Scott Shannon from Pirate Radio KQLZ Los Angeles, Z100 New York and many other stations. A letter of provenance from Shannon will be provided with purchase as seen in images.

The award is in Excellent condition with only a very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. The award has its' original manufacturer sticker from Fitzgerald Hartley.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
