Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold LP award must have been made in 1973 and is a first presentation award. It features the correct special Apple label made for the album, it has an original back with New York Frame & Picture Co. label and all internal components appear correct.

It is presented to Apple Records Inc. The smoother, whiter Miller board used 1967 and after is present. The correct style presentation plate is present, reading "to commemorate more than one million dollars worth of the Apple Records long-playing record album...". The wood frame appears to be the correct and original white matte-style frame.

One unusual feature is the words "Hare Krishna" engraved in the dead wax area of the gold record. It is common to see a release number, but not additional messages. It is visible to the naked eye but very hard to photograph. We have attempted to show it in the images. This is a very unique feature that also likely indicates that the actual George Harrison album was used in the award, especially when coupled with the fact that the six tracks on the gold record match the number of tracks on the actual album. This is often not the case in RIAA awards.

This award is 48 years old and yet is in very good condition, considering its age. There are some fairly significant mars and scratches on the wood frame as is expected, and some mars on the disc. The presentation plate is in very good condition. The plexiglass is clear with only a few small scratches. The original backing paper is present with New York Frame & Picture Co. manufacturer's sticker present. Some framer's points were added on the rear at some point to better secure the award's internals but the backing paper appears intact outside of a few tears.

This is a great opportunity to get a rare and highly coveted George Harrison RIAA white matte award.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
