RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum Album Award for Jay-Z album The Black Album. The album was released on November 14, 2003 and by Aug. 16, 2005 was certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. 

The album produced singles "99 Problems", which won a Grammy award for Best Rap Solo Performance, along with Billboard top 10 hits "Change Clothes" and "Dirt off Your Shoulder". It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and sold well in many other world markets. The album features various samples and this award is presented to Leslie West (1945-2020) of 1970s rock group Mountain, because Mountain’s track "Long Red" is sampled on “99 Problems". See image above for RIAA sales certifications of this album through the years*.

Detailed Item Description: This Jay-Z RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 2005, making it 17 years old. It is presented to Mountain lead vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Leslie West.

This award is in Excellent condition with only very minor mars on the plexiglass and frame. It is all original with unopened backing paper and Ill Eagle manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
